Constant Aviation: Meet Zamir Calhoun '21

Amid the roar of the planes and hustle and bustle around Cleveland Hopkins International Airport you will find a 5-star company that is vital to operations at our busiest airport. Constant Aviation specializes in airframe maintenance and engine maintenance, major repairs, avionics, interior refurbishment, paint, parts distribution, and accessory services. The company understands the importance of aircraft availability and minimizes the costs for their customers. So if your plane needs maintenance, this is definitely the one-stop shop to turn to in times of need.

It is also where Zamir Calhoun ’21 resides once a week and 5 times a month for his Corporate Work Study job. Zamir has never flown before so everything around him has been new and exciting. “The staff actually let me board a plane, which was really cool,” Zamir said with a smile. His supervisor, Jodi Schuler added, “Zamir really lit up his first day here, it was awesome. He went to the hangar, saw some of the aircrafts, experienced what is was like to sit in one and it brightened his day.”

Jodi, who serves as the Business MGR of Aircraft On Ground department, is thrilled to have Zamir as part of the team. She keeps him busy working on and updating many spreadsheets that involve important work orders, and processing invoices so they can be submitted on-line. Zamir will also pull labor rates for customers and work on computers a lot, which he really excels at, “I am really good with technology, so when Miss Schuler breaks down the task for me, I pick it up the first time,” he said. “I like it a lot!” It falls right in line with what Zamir would like to do in the future, and have a technology based career after school. “The work experience is great, you can learn a lot from it, it helps in real life and I tell all my friends that.”

The unique Corporate Work Study Program is proud to call more than 130 organizations their partners. The opportunities these companies provide our Saint Martin students is transformational, and the supervisors become a significant part of our learning community. “I think the program is awesome’” said Jodi. “I love that it is kids that may not have had an opportunity like this. I think this is a great experience, not only because you see the corporate environment but you experience different personalities, all different ages. I would definitely recommend CWSP to other companies, and I know it has really helped our team!”
