I cannot believe the love and care people here put into their jobs and our students. Everyone has a passion for what they do.

Helping Our Graduates Navigate Their Post-Secondary Journeys
Saint Martin is implementing a relationship-based and data-driven approach to helping our alumni and alumnae navigate their post-secondary journeys. In addition to hosting events at school and staying in touch with our alumni and alumnae through social networking sites, by email, and by phone, Saint Martin also partners with the National Student Clearinghouse (NSC) to obtain information about the post-secondary journeys of our students.
We are able to report the following promising numbers on direct college enrollment and college persistence at this time:
- Our Class of 2009 surpassed the national rate for direct college enrollment by twenty percent! Eighty-one percent of the members of the Saint Martin de Porres High School Class of 2009 are enrolled in a two- or four-year college.
- Nationally, 61.6 percent of high school graduates directly enroll in college.
- In Ohio, 60.0 percent of high school graduates directly enroll in college.(Source: The National Center for Higher Education Management Systems)
- Students who are from families with lower incomes directly enroll in college at a rate of 51 percent.
Our Class of 2008 surpassed the national rate for college persistence, with 65 percent of those who enrolled in a two- or four-year college reenrolling as sophomores. Nationally, 61 percent of students who enroll in a two- or four-year college as freshmen persist as sophomores (Source: ACT).
Ninety-one Saint Martin graduates are currently enrolled in a two- or four-year college. This includes students at Oberlin College; historically black colleges, Spelman and Morehouse; Jesuit schools such as John Carroll, Fairfield University, Loyola Chicago, and Xavier University; and state universities such as Miami, Ohio State, and Ohio University.
Two students not enrolled in a two- or four-year college have completed certificate programs. Mary Jewell `08 earned a pharmacy technician certificate and Carlous Kern `08 earned a computer technology certificate.
Three students who are not currently attending college chose to join the military. Andre Harmon `08 is serving in the U.S. Army, Marcellus Maines `08 is serving in the U.S. Navy, and Kylie Kelly `09 has enlisted in the U.S. Air Force.
Principal Mary Ann Vogel responded to the National Student Clearinghouse data by saying: “This information will allow us to provide appropriate support for each of our 128 alumni and alumnae. We are also in the process of drilling down on the data to look for patterns and for opportunities to improve.”
