Corporate Work Study Program
The School that Works
Since inception, the Corporate Work Study Program has generated over $17,000,000 in revenue to offset the cost of education for our students. Through our unique relationship with the business community, Saint Martin students will invest over $2.5 million in their education this year. This means that Saint Martin’s financial sustainability is not solely dependent on tuition-collection and fundraising.
Our unique partnership with the great Cleveland business community has also been recently identified as a leading indicator of student’s persistence rate in college. The relevance of the work study program as a means to an end for our students is one of the many reasons our partners get involved.
Each Saint Martin student works in a job-sharing team comprised of four students. Working in a rotating schedule, each team fills one full time equivalent job in a standard Monday-Friday business week schedule. The program sets the tone for student behavior and expectations in the workplace and in the classroom.
New students participate in a summer training program to prepare them for the expectations of the business world. Training includes the importance of making a positive first impression, guidelines for professional office attire, honing communication skills, and operating basic office equipment.
The CWSP also provides meaningful opportunities for professionals to interact with and mentor their student workers while making a difference in their lives. Over 100 Cleveland-area businesses, firms, and non-profits have partnered with Saint Martin since 2004 in a relationship that is beneficial to both corporate partners and to the students.
